Analysis of Driving Power Supply for LED Lighting

In order to save energy and power, LED has been greatly promoted, but LED needs a power driver, which will directly affect the life of the LED, so how to do a good job of LED driver power is the top priority of the LED power designers. 1. Driving circuit directly affects the life of LED

What we call LED driver includes digital driver and analog driver. Digital driver includes digital dimming control and RGB full color changeable. Analog driver refers to analog circuit driver, including AC constant current switching power supply and DC constant current control circuit. Driving circuit consists of electronic components, including semiconductor components, resistors, capacitors, inductors and so on. These components have a useful life. Any device failure will lead to the failure of the whole circuit or part of the function failure. The lifetime of LED is 50,000 to 100,000 hours, which is calculated by 50,000 hours. It has a lifetime of nearly 6 years. The life of switching power supply is very difficult to reach 6 years. The quality guarantee period of switching power supply sold on the market is usually 2-3 years. The power supply with 6 years'quality guarantee is military grade, and the price is 4-6 times that of ordinary power supply. It is very difficult for general lighting factory to accept. So the fault of LED lamps is mostly the fault of driving circuit.

2. Heat dissipation

LED is a cold light source, the working junction temperature can not exceed the limit, and a certain amount of margin should be left in the design. The design of the whole lamp should consider many aspects, such as beautiful appearance, convenient installation, light distribution, heat dissipation and so on. We should seek a balance among many factors, so that the overall lamp is the best. The development time of LED lamps is not long, and we can learn little from the experience, many designs are constantly improving. Some LED lighting manufacturers use power supply for outsourcing or purchasing, lamp designers do not know much about power supply, to the LED heat dissipation space is larger, to the power supply heat dissipation space is smaller. Usually, it is difficult to find the right power supply after the lamp is designed. Often encounter because the lamp interior space is small or the interior temperature is high, and the cost control is low, can not be allocated to the appropriate power supply. Some LED lamps and lanterns factories have the ability of power research and development, and the above problems can be solved by evaluating the initial design of lamps and lanterns and synchronizing the design of power supply. In the design, the heat dissipation of LED and power should be considered comprehensively, and the temperature rise of lamps should be controlled as a whole, so that better lamps can be designed.
